Holiday Red Velvet cake will make you everyone's favorite guest!

The Holidays are upon us. Tis’ the season for families, giving, and celebrations. For your next holiday party you can impress your friends and family with this incredibly easy, and wonderfully delicious Red Velvet Cake. It’s not only festive, but delectable!

• 2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour sifted

• 3 tbs. cocoa powder sifted

• 1 teaspoon baking soda

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1 cup buttermilk

• 2 tbs. red liquid food coloring

• 1 tbs. white vinegar

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 1-1/3 cups packed brown sugar

• 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

• 2 whole eggs, room temperature
• Cream cheese frosting, recipe follows

Holiday Red Velvet Directions
Preheat to 325 degrees F. Whisk the flours, cocoa, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl and set aside. Whisk the buttermilk, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla together in a small bowl and set aside. Cream the brown sugar and butter in the bowl until lightened in color, about 2 minutes. Slowly add the eggs and beat until they are fully incorporated. Add the flour mixture in 3 installments, alternating with the buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix on low speed until smooth, 30 to 45 seconds.

For Cake ~ Pour into greased, and parchment lined three 8″ or two 9″ round cake pans. Bake 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle only has small crumbs on it. Be careful not to over bake.

For 24 cupcake ~ fill lined cups each about 2/3 full. Bake appx 16-18 minutes .


Cream Cheese Frosting

• 1 lb. box powdered sugar (approx. 4 cups sifted)

• 8 ounces cream cheese (1 block), room temperature

• ½ stick unsalted butter, room temperature

• 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

• 1 tsp. salt

Combine the cream cheese and butter on medium speed. Stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add the vanilla and salt and beat until combined. Add sugar in 4 additions. Cream together. Refrigerate for 5 to 10 minutes before using.
